Shirley Collins Photograph Katie Vandyck

"Shirley Collins is without doubt one of
England's greatest cultural treasures"

Billy Bragg

The Etchingham Steam Band

The all-acoustic ESB was formed during the power cuts and short working week of the mid 1970s - and all at Martin Carthy's suggestion. Some of their first folk club gigs were played by candlelight! The repertoire was largely drawn from the traditional music of Sussex, and this CD is composed of live recordings.
